From great medieval queens, to writers, scientists, the role of women throughout history has often been overlooked. Because of many woman’s role as the principal carer of children, the opportunity to create a meaningful role outside of the home often only comes later in life. They then bring with them wisdom, knowledge and skills developed in the home, which can then be used for the benefit of wider society. 

THE GREYS is a group of miniature vessels, symbolic of the female form, made from textiles. I have chosen textiles to create these vessels because of its unique history closely intertwined with domestic, social, cultural and political values. As a group they create a stronger visual impact of solidarity and strength.
